AAA Community Traffic Safety Hero Award
The New Providence Police Department and borough residents Cecile Seth and Donna Zane were honored for their dedication to traffic safety at the Traffic Safety Awards Luncheon, hosted by AAA Northeast in October at the Hanover Manor in East Hanover.
Seth and Zane received Community Traffic Safety Hero awards for helping to create programs to alleviate traffic congestion around the borough’s three schools. New Providence does not offer school busing, so in an effort to ease traffic and keep kids safer, they created several drop-and-go locations near the schools. Parents drop their children off in close proximity to designated crossing guards and the children walk the remaining short distance to school.
They have also helped raise awareness for bicycle and pedestrian safety by hosting many bike-to-school and Walk-to-School events throughout the year.
